Group Event - Shooting at
Downe Shooting On the 23rd April 2011At Downe Activity Centre This is an excellent opportunity to learn a new skill that requires concentration, steady breathing and a good eye for accuracy. As this activity uses .177 air rifles, strict range discipline is maintained at all times. This activity is set up to cater for a maximum of 12 people. This ensures everyone gets to try out the activity and, where possible, get the chance to improve. So its first come first served I’m afraid, so if you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity, get in quick. we require a deposit of £3 asap.

Scouts Event - Challenge
Me! Camp There will be no group summer camp this year, I just don’t have the time to organise it. Instead there will be a scout camp in September, called Challenge me! This camp is aimed at building on camping skills and for some scouts to help them gain their camp cook or outdoor challenge / plus badge. It's also intended to be a competition between the scouts. Just like Spoule, you will be marked in all the activities you take part in over the weekend, with the winning team getting a trophy of some sort. The cost will be around £25, I would like a deposit £5 by 16th July, the final payment is due in on the 10th September. Sorry about the timing but I would like to get this camp in before the winter weather sets in.

Group Event - 2nd Woolwich AGM 09 On Wednesday 3rd June 2009 the 2nd Woolwich Scout Group will be holding their Annual General Meeting at 7pm Beavers to turn up on the day at the usual time and stay for the meeting after. There is a formal side to the meeting where we elect our committee members, no parent is expected to turn up on the day and offer their support, yes it is a great help to the whole group to have the support of parents but not essential. So please do not allow this to deter you from attending as there is also an enjoyable element to the meeting. Over the past year all of the children have participated in many different activities and events, at this time we award those that have done well over the year and the child awarded could be yours, it is far more special for them if their parents are there. Not all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts get an award but they will be able to see what they need to do to achieve one the next time. The Beavers will be singing a couple of songs that they have recently learnt for the Gang Show and the Cubs and Scouts also have something to contribute to the night. There will be a prize given to all of the children that took part in Job Week and we will be able to let you know how well they all did and I can say a significant amount was raised. We will also spend a little time giving information about the pending camping trips and the Family Camp in August. So please come along and support your children. We have a fantastic group of children who are worthy of support from all. |

District Event - Knife Crime Talk On Friday 10 October 2008 Woolwich district will be holding talks about knife crime at Waverley Crescent, Plumstead, London, SE18 7QT. It starts at 7:30pm and should last about 1 hr, but I'm not sure about the actual finishing time. I hope to be able to till you by the 10th if not sooner once I've had a change to get in touch with the organisers As far as I am aware this is part of The ‘Weapons Awareness Programme…Knife Talk’ is a National Education Strategy which aims to challenge young people’s perceptions of weapons and violence. The Be Safe approach is based on delivering factual information in a completely non-judgemental way, leaving the young person to make up their own mind as to whether carrying weapons is worth it or not? The programme was originally designed to deal with offenders only, but it soon became apparent that if many of these young people had been provided with the information about the consequences of carrying a ‘Knife’ then they would never have entered the Criminal Justice System. The project is now part of preventative, restorative justice and reparation measures provided in Schools, Youth Groups and Associated Organisations. I would like all our scouts to meet at the venue if possible but if you have a problem finding this location or getting there please get in touch with me on 07733157346 or get in touch with Lorraine on 07786315279. This is a district event and we expect all our members to arrive in full Uniform whether that be cub or scout uniform, Those that do not have uniform are still permitted to attend, (and we know if you have uniform) any one not in uniform will be asked to go home again. . |
